The office of Innov8 Co-working in New Delhi encourages interaction and creativity with its progressive design.
Ritesh Malik, Founder & CEO, Innov8 Co-working has opened a co-working office space at Connaught Place, New Delhi, that acts as a hub for start-ups, corporate, writers, entrepreneurs, et al of the city. Professionals can avail of its state-of-the-art office facilities without investing huge sums of money.
Apart from its strategic location, what makes this space stand out from the rest is its design that fosters innovation and freedom of thought amongst co-workers. Spread across 9,000 sq ft, Innov8 is the first work-space campus in India to host an open innovation centre of 3,000 sq ft with a golf course, trampoline bags, amphitheatre, solar lighting and vertical gardens.
Located in a heritage building, the Innov8 office aims to get people close to nature and provide ergonomic and user-friendly infrastructure with maximum comfort, while encouraging community building and interaction.
The reception is a welcoming space comprising rustic concrete walls, a reception desk and bold hand-written notes about dreaming big, entrepreneurship and start-ups on a pinewood background. It has minimalistic Shell chairs seating and pinewood and black powder-coated metal lockers.
The biggest challenge was to design without making any structural changes to the heritage building. Wood has been liberally used to add character and warmth to the spaces. For the walls, the designers, who in this case are the owners themselves, have used a combination of raw unfinished concrete, wood, exposed bricks and paint. “We tend to stay away from single coloured walls. To us, plain walls are demotivating and in a co-working space there is no room for any demotivation,” says Ritesh Malik, Founder & CEO, Innov8 Co-working.
The office space is divided into two design schemes – one with pinewood workstations with a metallic rectangular base made by Indian craftsmen and the other with workstations with jet black pewter soul chairs by furniture brands such as Herman Miller and Bristol. This scheme balances the traditional and modern elements in the space.
The office has several break-out zones, inspired from Google offices. There are Ideation Zones, Start-up Library, Start-up Cafe (only for founders), Indoor amphitheatres, meeting rooms, common areas and Innovation Corner with new age gadgets. In the Cafe area and the Premium zone, there is an open work culture environment with ample space for privacy and interactions, too. The colours add to the liveliness of the ambience.
Every inch of Innov8’s interior walls is covered with wall art and motivational posters/frames, which encourages co-workers to put in their best. Carved by pinewood grains on all sides, the meeting rooms are the productive areas of the campus. The nap room is a small space with serene wallpapers and a carpet with futons and sofa-cum-beds.
Beautiful handcrafted typography on the walls in specific zones adds a touch of creativity to the office. Some of the long walls are covered with motivational words, handcrafted with thread and jute.
The team boxes and meeting rooms are named after spacecrafts such as Apollo 11, Apollo 13, Pioneer, Curiosity and Discover to heighten the sense of achievement and serve as motivation.
The lunchroom is on the terrace with glass everywhere and a dome shaped elevation. The café is an open lounge work area where a mix of colourful cushion-padded chairs with Konrad round tables, a pinewood amphitheatre and tall café seating. The amphitheatre can accommodate around 30 people and is enclosed with a library creating a cosy space.
“We have used only warm white lights. It has been proven that warm white lights are more acceptable to our eyes. It also enhances productivity and moreover everything looks its best in warm white light,” shares Malik. Besides the regular fixtures, designer lamp shades, incandescent bulbs and common surface lights have also been used.
Innov8 Co-working aims to redefine the way new age professionals work not only with its format but also with its office design.
