Tisva, a home decorative lighting brand from Usha International Limited expands its footprint with the opening of its brand store in Ghaziabad. Located in Chanderpuri Hapur Road, this store is a tribute to the ‘art of illumination’ and brings forth designer lighting for contemporary homes. Well-known interior designer Gauri Khan is associated with the brand. Every Tisva light is combined with technology like tunability (colour control) and dimmability (intensity control). The wide range of products from Tisva include Ambient lighting concepts, LED designer range, Chandeliers, Table and Floor Lamps, Wall Lights, Pendants and Utility lighting products. 

Tile launches two new trackers

Tile launched two new Bluetooth trackers called Tile Sport and Tile Style. The systems in the pro series are capable of connecting to a network of people who use the same device to crowd source the missing object once out of Bluetooth range. The new device, however, has an advanced Bluetooth range and louder speakers. These two launches are so far the heaviest tile designs launched by the company so far. The tiles can be detected from a range of 200 feet, double the other products of Mate and Slim editions and also offers a yearlong battery life. 

Smart Stove knob can now help guide cooks

Klove, a new stove knob can now help cook through the process of cooking. It can be connected to a smart phone app and the knob will talk the recipe that can be saved from the internet or any other sources onto the app. It will be able to connect with smart home device systems like Google and Amazon’s systems of Echo and Alexa too. Sensors monitor the cooking. It went live on Indiegogo at attractively discounted rates. Since these IoT systems will enter India by the end of 2017, Klove hopes to be launched in India by early 2018. Bahubali Shete who developed the device system has also previously been involved in developing IoT and AI based systems.

designjunction Announces Stellar Brand Line-up and New Launches

Now in its seventh year, designjunction returns to Kings Cross this September from the 21st to the 24th as part of the annual London Design Festival. The 2017 edition of the show will present more than 200 international design brands, hundreds of product launches, 70 tempting pop-up shops and bespoke installations, in addition to the schedule of lively talks and debates. The show will take place across five key sites including the centrally located Granary Square (Registration and installations), Cubitt House (lighting and furniture), Cubitt Park (emerging designers and materials), The Crossing (installations and partnership projects) and the Canopy (retail). 

Oberoi New Delhi to see an early opening in January 2018

 The Oberoi New Delhi that has been shut since April 2016 is to open earlier than its planned date of April 2018. The property that was built in 1965 is set to get a major upgrade in many of its systems as well as a complete overhaul of its interiors. The property will now offer 218 rooms and 32 suites. The revamped property will feature ‘the first of its kind’ rooftop bar in the city that will offer a 360-degree view of Delhi’s skyline, according to official sources on the project.

Catherine Zeta Jones is to launch her own home decor line. The award winning actress will be beginning her own line of home accessories on the QVC channel- Liberty Interactive Corp. The home and bedding range will be called Casa Zeta-Jones and will be released on September 28.  Zeta Jones expressed her delight to work with the QVC brand to release her new decor range.

IKEA launches solar battery packs

IKEA launches solar battery packs to its offerings. The new product can help home owners to cut down 70 per cent of their electricity bills, according to the company. The Swedish furniture brand has launched this product to compete with Tesla’s powerwall. The battery allows one to store solar energy and use it as per consumer convenience.  According to IKEA, 60 per cent of energy is sent back to the national grid when homes with solar panels do not use a battery. The homeowners thus miss out on a huge amount of potential savings generated by using renewable technology for power consumption needs.


OYO sets a rigorous expansion plan

As the leisure travel business expands, OYO is keen to expand its brand double fold by the end of next year. The budget hotel brand seeks to expand its current inventory of 70,000 rooms to around 1.5 lakh rooms by the end of 2018. The “India first business model” put their business goals into perspective and is not lead by competition.  Presenting pre-GST rates for the rooms, the partners also find the model very lucrative.  By the end of 2017, the brand aims to include around 30,000 more rooms. 

Govt to present ‘Housing Challenge' to help Housing for All

After the achievement of Smart City Challenge, the Union government is prepared to acquaint a comparative innovation to boost the Housing for All programs. The competition is to be called Housing Challenge. The challenge would be directed by states to pick the best and most practical innovation for each moderate lodging venture. National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), under the service of lodging and urban issues (MHUA), has been entrusted with giving a working model to the states. As per sources, the service has recognized 25 urban areas where the model can be taken off in a pilot scheme. The move comes after the Smart City Challenge (which has been utilized to pick urban areas to be produced as Smart Cities) was valued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
