CWAB Awards 2014

22nd August, 2014. It was an evening like no other. Glamour, glitz and grandeur´all vying with each other for attention. The theme for the 9th CWAB Awards was InnoVision. As the event unfolded to welcome the crFme de la crFme from the world of architecture and construction, the excitement in the air was palpable. The big night would showcase and celebrate the works of the Top Architects and Builders who had changed (or were in the process of changing) the skyline of the country with their extraordinary vision and exemplary work.

Two categories of awards shaped the event. The first category - India´s Most Admired Architects - featured the top five architects who emerged clear winners in a nation-wide voting survey. The survey list comprised of 67 architects that was sent to a very select list of builders, building material suppliers, hoteliers, retailers and consultants, where these five emerged on top. The next 20 architects were then selected, profiled, and the findings presented to an august jury. The 10 selected from this list by the jury were awarded as India´s Top Innovisionary Architects. Similar categories of awards were presented to the builders as well.

With Dr Sudhir Krishna, Former Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India as the chief guest, the evening opened with the special address by architect Michael Jansen, Chairman & CEO of CityZenith, an architect who has developed the Smart Enterprise software that enables cities to convert their massive amounts of data into monetisable assets, addressed the gathering with some vivid insights.

Keynote speaker Devika Devaiah, also the author of Orbit Shifting Innovation, made a rousing address, ¨We need people who will build monuments in our cities as an endeavour to express their love for India.¨ She proceeded to give several examples of Indian innovators who triumphed against all odds to create and innovate. The highlight of the evening though was the awards ceremony. It began with acknowledging the jury comprising of Alakesh Roy, Managing Director, Zamil Steel, India, Kamal Singh, Director Power Electronics, Danfoss Industries, Manish Garg, President, Steel Building Solutions - Everest Industries, Shampa Dhali, Director, Global Sales, Marriott International, Shyam Motwani, Executive Vice President, Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing (Locking Solutions and Systems), Sushil Luniya, President, Marketing & Sales, HSIL, Umesh Rao, Founder & CEO, Vector Projects (I) and Vikas Gupta, Director, Omkar Realtors & Developers.

The evening also marked the launch of ASAPP Media´s innovative new offering to the industry -, a new website which comprises of an architectural and interiors product gallery with over 20,000 product from over 50 categories and over 175 brands! A perfect end to a wonderful evening that lauded the greats and laid down tall benchmarks for future masters.
