Bombay Vintage

If it’s even possible to capture the colourful, frenzied spirit of the city within the walls of a restaurant, the partners at Neighbourhood Hospitality - Pankil Shah, Abhishek Honawar and Sumitraj Gambhir are up to the task. The experience of running three outlets of the popular Woodside Inn and the picturesque The Pantry in Kalaghoda, coupled with their varied cultural backgrounds growing up in Mumbai, makes the re-launch of Bombay Vintage under their banner a fitting tribute to the city.

Bombay Vintage creates a casual Indian-cuisine centric dining space, one that captures the dynamic energy of a young Bombay. A vibrant retro-inspired colour palette brings custom created artworks, panelled surfaces and Irani style chairs together to represent a distinct, arty cheerfulness.

The many shades and communities of the city are captured in the menu. At Bombay Vintage, you’ll take a little trip to the by-lanes of Mumbai with exceptional flavours, experience a taste of the coast and be indulged with distinctly hearty combinations that give the city its unique edge. And when you think you’ve had enough, something will always compel you to ‘make that extra space’ - in your stomach as well as in your heart.

Bombay Vintage

Bombay Vintage is a name that immediately brings to mind monotones, sepia tinted imagery, and memorabilia from the past. While that style of vintage design has its own charm,  this Indian eatery & bar appeals to a wider set of patrons using design aesthetics that reflected a vibrant and bustling young Bombay city. A place that is accessible and comforting to everyone and where one can sit back and relax over scrumptious Indian fare and beer or beverages.

Going down this route enabled the designers to work with a bright retro vintage colour palette of teal, butter, and marmalade, offset with tan and navy seating. They introduced hints of vintage through panelled surfaces, lighting fixtures and gold tipped Irani chairs. And of course, a bit of vintage memorabilia.

Another important design element they created is a set of specially designed artworks, which includes a vignette of Colaba featuring the 100 year old Gothic structure (and arch) that currently houses Bombay Vintage, in its past glory. These fascinating artworks portray the city's past in an unseen vibrant avatar.
