Cofounders of Architezer Complete New Jersey’s Apartment Tower With Gridded White Exteriors

Dec 12, 2016

Architects Hollwich Kushner and Handel Architects, co-founders of architecture website Architizer, have completed a 53-storey apartment tower in New Jersey’s Journal Square, quite similar to the 432 Park Avenue skyscraper in Manhattan.

Clad in aluminium panels, the high-rise building has a rectangular form and gridded windows, and consists of a slender shaft rising from a splayed base. Containing 538 rental apartments, it includes amenities such as a yoga studio, an outdoor pool and a "sky lounge" on the 53rd floor.

The team has skillfully taken care of both the regional and neighbourhood aspects while constructing the tower by setting the building 85 ft above sea level, and being distinctly visible to every New Yorker, and on the other hand, creating smaller volumes in the lower portion of the skyscraper to blend with Jersey’s surrounding structures respectively.

According to Hollwich, this “powerful landmark” in front of the Journal Square PATH station epitomizes Jersey City being an “extension of Manhattan.
