UAE Interior Designers Fight Against Water Crisis This Christmas

Nov 29, 2016

Leading interior design professionals will converge in Dubai, UAE, during December 2016, in support of Surge, an international organization that funds sustainable safe water and sanitation projects.

Marita Peters, Executive Director, Surge Middle East, states the importance of addressing the issue at hand as “2,300 people die every day because of inadequate drinking water and sanitation”.

The upcoming Design, Dine and make a Difference (DDD) is being used as a platform to tackle this situation, through a unique competition will challenge interior designers to create an ecofriendly, sustainable bookcase, made primarily out of recycled materials.

Some of Dubai’s most celebrated creative designers, such as Allen Architecture Interiors Design, Arcology International, Art Plus 971, Bluehaus, Maja Kozel Design, Pallavi Dean Design, Perkins + Will and Tony Archibold have taken the bookcase design challenge.

Award-winning designer Laila Al Yousuf, Senior Interior Designer, Perkins+Will, interprets this opportunity as a chance to “resonate” with the idea far better with the help of their own forte – their creativity.

Sponsors include leading companies such as KPS World; Hussain General Trading; Acoulite, Boss Design; Consort; Haworth; Heimtex; Interface; Kvadrat Soft Cells; Office Inspirations; Seekers Furnishing and The Total Office, etc.

Stephen Lockey, Managing Director, KPS World, acknowledges the focus of the event on CSR (corporate social responsibility) rather than paying attention towards potential Christmas and New Year celebrations.
