Tom Dixon, British designer opens his flagship store in South Asia in Hong Kong.Designed to engage and encourage interaction, shoppers get to explore the versatility of the collection through a plug and play lighting track, and the designer's tool box engineered to demonstrate finishes, colour and fabric options.The new store is located at 52 Hollywood Road and offers a variation in lighting and home furnisher ranges by the brand. 

IKEA buys 14-acre land to build store in Bengaluru

The Swedish home furnishings company, IKEA is all set to start to build its third store in India. It recently acquired 14 acres of land from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation at Tumkur Road. The new store is to be at estimated 4.5 lakh sq ft. This new store will provide a one-stop home furnishings solution for Bengaluru while creating a demand for jobs, locally.

Faber launches new range of Built In Oven

It has a black glass finish with a metallic bar handle and 3 layers of door plate. Its temperature ranges from 60-250 C and the gross capacity is 83 litres.The ovens are bestowed with memory and reminder functions, automatic on/off programs, a digital clock with automatic cut-off timer, speed cook and a cooling system as well.Frank Faber India Limited is a kitchen appliances manufacturer with Swiss and Italian parentage for Franke and Faber brands respectively.

Andy Rubin, one of the co-founders of Android Inc and current Global CEO of Playground and Essential gives a response to smart home device producers by providing an ultimate integrated solution. The Essential Home device can be connected to every smart device in the home irrespective to the company the device is made by. The device looks like a hockey puck orb with a 5.6-inch circular display. While companies seek to create digital ecosystems of their own for customers, customers prefer a variety of devices put together. A lot of devices in the home make it inaccessible for the consumer who has to interact with multiple devices for multiple functions. Apple hasn’t confirmed the participation of their products with this technology yet. 

Indian Institute of Architects marks centenary with an exhibition

To commemorate the centenarian of the Indian Institute of Architects, the West Bengal chapter will organise an exhibition next month. The film 'Uncommon Sense', based on the life and works of legendary architect Laurie Baker, will be screened on the inaugural day. Baker was a British-born Indian architect, renowned for his initiatives in cost-effective energy-efficient architecture and designs that maximised space, ventilation and light.The two-day exhibition, which will begin on June 9, will give the architects of the state due to recognition and facilitate appropriate documentation of their works. The Indian Institute of Architects formed at the Sir J J School of Arts on May 12, 1917, was initially named as the Architectural Students Association. It was renamed as the Indian Institute of Architecture in 1929.

The $600 million precinct of South City Square in Brisbane gets recognised internationally for its unique building projects. Woolloongabba, a mixed-used development project in Brisbane won the International Property Award for the Asia Pacific Region. The project was chosen for its unique and innovative design. Another project at the precinct bagged an award for Best Overseas Residential Project. South City Square will soon feature six luxurious residential projects and a 5-star hotel.

The design follows the modules of sustainable cooking ranges with its smart technology integrations, recycled materials and induction heating. The cooking area has a shed on top that features solar panels. The LED display on the roof can be used to feature personalised birthday and anniversary greetings along with messages that the barbeque Is free to be used. It seemlessly fits into the family atmosphere for public parks. The design offers embedded cook tops to cater to all cooking styles and dietary needs. 

Häfele launches Design Showroom in Chennai

Häfele launched a design showroom at College Road in Chennai. This new facility is spread across 5300 sq ft and offers a live kitchen range among other new products for architectural design fittings and accessories. Some of the other new products include Nagold arrangement of home apparatuses, new Dekton surfaces, hydro 80 glass sliding systems, and waste administration systems for homes in new ranges.  This store marks the seventh store in South Asia and second in India.
