Completely adjustable WC height with new Viega Eco Plus element

The demand for products that can be individually adjusted offering convenience and comfort for different age group and people with different functional abilities is growing. Especially, in hospitals, care homes and multi-generational households. For e.g. Accessible bathrooms require products which are adjustable to the changing needs of their users and can be adapted with little effort to different living situations. To meet this demand Viega has introduced a new Eco Plus element with which the WC can be adjustable in height smoothly at the touch of a button without any subsequent alterations and electronics. Additionally, an attractive design hides the necessary technology behind a glass panel giving it an aesthetic look. The product is designed with Viega ingenuity that has wowed the jury at the “Bathroom Comfort for Generations” product competition for its ease of use and appealing quality.

Aesthetic and Robust Design

The movable inner frame with flexible outlet bend and flush pipe are hidden behind toughened safety glass, together with the control system. This allows the WC ceramic to be safely, smoothly and reliably moved 80 millimetres up and down. The maximum seat height is 48 centimetres. Only the release button which is mounted on the glass panel is visible.

Flexibility to meet design demands and ease of use

The WC element is installed in accordance with the principle of all Viega Eco Plus modules. In the same way, the familiar system dimension has been retained - with a width of 490 millimetres and an installation height of 1,130 millimetres.

When the WC element is assembled, the tiler can work up to the opening with the help of the supplied polystyrene cover. The fitter then simply positions the plastic cover with surrounding seal and fits the glass panel. Then, he fits the release button and WC ceramic.

The colour blue and its varying hues find place in Mahesh Karambele’s paintings that narrate the
hustle and bustle of a busy metropolis like Mumbai. Adept at painting cityscapes that depict the
splendour of vertical growth intertwined with the city’s humungous human interface, the artist
pays homage to his home town by drawing out the beauty in the mundane.

“The ways and subways of life,” says Mahesh Karambele have not only led him to be a passionate
artist but have literally constituted the ethos of his musings on canvas. The strength of his brush
dipped in oil paint confidently etches out silhouettes of vehicular traffic, bridges, carts, flower
sellers, the iconic dabbawalas of Mumbai, capturing the ethos of the city that never sleeps.
With buildings flirting with by lanes and pedestrian traffic, painting vivid scenes of ordinary folk
and everyday humdrum of city living, the artist unveils his collection aptly and simply christened
‘Reflection’. The Mumbai monsoon holds a special place as the artist creates washes and adeptly
applies the oil medium with the expertise of the watercolour technique. The romanticism and
inspiration that accompanies the rains is well depicted.

The rush that characterises Mahesh’s canvases can allude to the adrenaline rush that the
artist tends to work with, driven by the hidden joys in everyday chaos, crammed by lanes with
Mumbai’s crowds and the perennial metropolitan pace of living. His paintings draw out the best
of the perspectives as the colours shine bright against the evening light – the luminosity combined
with the transparency of the weather – culls a beautiful cityscape that one can lose oneself into...

Soneva Launches ‘A Festival of Colour’ Campaign to celebrate rare experiences across its resorts

Soneva, the world-leading luxury resort operator, has launched its first ever year-long campaign known as a ‘Festival of Colour’ to celebrate the diverse array of guest activities and experiences on offer this year, ranging from visiting Michelin-starred chefs and astronomers, through to authors, champion free-divers, artists and more. Each month of the year is associated with a different colour and theme, which will be brought to life at Soneva’s resorts in the Maldives and Thailand through special on-site events and collaborations.

Underscoring the Festival of Colour is a series of short “colour” films created by the renowned French film director Bruno Aveillan. Bruno visited Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani in early 2017 to shoot the films, which were inspired by the different colours he found at the resorts. Soneva plans to release one colour film each month during the campaign on its website and on social media.

As part of the Festival of Colour, Soneva has confirmed a huge line-up of visiting experts, including chefs, authors, wine producers, world-champion free-divers, astronomers, artists, wellness practitioners, tennis coaches and more at all resorts.

Fine dining experiences are a pivotal part of Soneva’s Festival of Colour, and the company has so-far confirmed 28 of the world’s top chefs (many of which have at least two Michelin stars and above or are included within The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list) for exclusive dinner events.

Indian demand for American hardwoods expected to grow significantly

India, as a market for American hardwoods, is expected to fulfill its
potential over the course of the next few years, according to the American Hardwood
Export Council (AHEC), the leading international trade association for the American
hardwood industry. Aiming to leverage the growing demand in India and the need for
alternative hardwood species, AHEC has announced its participation at the tenth edition of
INDIAWOOD, which will be held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Center from March
8 - 12, 2018. Testament to its renewed confidence in the Indian market, AHEC is returning to
the show with eight U.S.-based hardwood and veneer exporters, who are all keen to do
business in the country.

To date, the much-publicized potential offered by India for American hardwoods has not
been realized. It has proven to be a tough market for U.S. hardwood exporters in which to
gain business for a multitude of well-documented reasons and the actual volumes of US
hardwood products shipped have been small relative to market potential. However, Indian
imports of hardwood lumber have risen considerably during the past two years, as the
market has shifted away from its preference for logs and as positive developments have
taken place in the wood manufacturing sector. There have also been a few recently documented
cases of furniture and joinery manufacturers buying kiln-dried U.S. hardwood
lumber for the first time. More importantly, they have been pleased with the lumber
received and very happy with the products that they have made.
