The main inspiration behind the design of the villa was the natural sharply defined contours of the landscape. This afforded the play of double height volumes, the conversation between the upper and lower levels and lastly the landscape which is integral to the villa architecture. For example, the walkway which leads you to the main entrance from the parking lot (on the upper level), the natural rocky contour of the landscape entering the lower deck which is seen while descending down the floating wooden staircase. The main unique point of the site location is that it is on the highest level in the area which is deeply contoured and has a panoramic view of the Darna lake. The footprint of the villa is on a horizontal axis which offers the lake view from all areas. A stone wall was introduced to visually cut the length of the villa and yet add an aesthetic element to the design. Full height French windows were used on the upper level to integrate the landscape with the interiors. Other smaller details like the deck merging with the lawn, the natural contour with the plunge pool wrapping around the lower deck and the bathroom on the lower level has an open to sky shower area which reinforce this central theme. Customised mixed media artwork (often directly on the surfaces be it the walls or chairs) pops up in every room to give the space its own personal character.
