Sharukh Mistry

Water Woods Lodge Resort

Mistry Architects bring to life this precious lodging in a forest area with the help of local inspiration.

Based in Karapura of Karnataka, this project is spread over 21,025.25 sq ft of land. The property is located on the banks of the backwaters of Kabini River, enveloped by water on three sides and covered with a dense canopy of evergreen trees. Mistry Architects creatively used local materials to add character to the resort. A thatched roof cover tied in fish net to treated bamboo for the underlays, boulders for the structural support system and mud plastered walls were among the key places featuring local materials. Every room overlooks the pool and the river beyond that. Impressive green technologies like that of water separation, turbo vents connected to wind turbines, sun tubes, recycle and reuse systems were also incorporated in the resort’s plan.
